| BIO | Douglas RousarDoug has been involved with the performing arts since early childhood. In addition to acting, singing and dancing, he also took on numerous roles as director, producer and choreographer. Music became a great passion in his life early on, playing trumpet in local and school jazz bands. In addition to the trumpet, Doug became actively involved in choir and was a principle lead in many musical productions. For his college years, Doug left the comfort of his Wisconsin roots and found himself in Chicago attending a private music school with dreams of becoming a music teacher. It was there that Doug gained a huge appreciation and understanding of music theory and true musicality. Early into 2001, while choreographing for a local production, Doug accidentally changed his life forever. It was then that he came across west coast swing. Immediately, it captured his interest and his first competition was just a few short months later. He has won numerous titles throughout the years including “US Open Champion”. Having given up a career in IT consulting, Doug is now teaching dance full time!! In addition to teaching, he has also gained respect in the community as an Event Director, Chief Judge, Coordinator and Competitor. He now travels, on average, 40 weekends a year all over the country, and loving every minute of it. Although Doug feels technique is the single most important aspect to becoming a great social dancer, he builds his teaching philosophy and approaches life and his students with the motto…. If it’s not FUN it’s not worth it!
