Douglas Rousar

Those who really know me, know that I have a passion for musical theatre and dance having spent a great deal of my life on stage.  Early on in college, attending VanderCook College of Music Education, I was involved with choreography and musical staging productions and show choirs.  After college, I found myself participating in all facets of production including stage work, directing, producing, music editing, promotion and advertising.  All the while, I continued dancing, performing,  and doing choreography.

My time spent on the stage, as well as being heavily involved in the performing arts arena, exposed me to a number of different dance styles.  But, it was West Coast Swing that really sparked an interest and fueled a new passion.  Having now travelled on average 40 weekends a year,  I have achieved recognition and success on the WCS competitive circuit and have built quite a following of students over the last several years.  I now am a full time teacher and loving every moment of it!

I have been fortunate enough to have been hired as a featured Workshop Instructor, Judge and Chief Judge at many dance events around the country.  My music background, performance experience, teachers training and love for the dance make me a well rounded dance professional and very qualified to serve in any capacity for your club event or activities.

Last year I received great feedback on all the workshop weekends, event workshops and seminars across the country.  I have built a reputation for providing classes that are well balanced between patterns and technique using the structure of providing patterns to practice and reinforce the technique.  We also have a lot of fun too!
